Typical 24V module width is 39-40". Two unistrut bars-80"L, bolted across to roof racks, spaced to meet module frame through holes (60"-65" minus hole offset from both ends (8")= unistrut bars separated 44").westend wrote:
How do you plan to attach the modules to the rack?
Don't know. Do you have a suggestion?
Can I put bolts through the frames? Are they all roughly the same, as far as frame construction, or do I need to factor that into panel selection?
Most module frames have attachment through holes in the frame.
Are we talking only about solar because it is the better option than a genny for me? Or because I expressed that's what I was leaning towards? Or because you guys all like solar better, too? Or because solar is more complicated than 'buy genny, plug in', so there is more to say?
You stated that a generator is too much weight to move. It also involves using a fuel that needs to be carried. It also has certain drawbacks like noise, smell, heat, and the exhaust.
If you are set getting a generator and the discussion about solar is just to mollify your trepidations to justify the generator, so be it.
