If you have deep pockets and never recharge below -20 c (-4f) then LI would lighten your battery load. They don't have to be kept above 50% state of charge and they do not sulfate so there is no need to fully recharge each and every use. So for the same weight you can have more amp-hours to play with.
What is the current number of amp-hours you have?
I doubt that 1 kwh per day can be had with 300 watts of panels when days are short. In June it is not a problem, but if you full time, then we have to look at December. As soon as we done we end up back at the noisy smelly solution.
There are some electric start generators that have wattage in the 2k VA range.
