Let's look at the added weight.
To go solar, the OP needs a minimum of 4 (or 8) GC2 at 63 lbs each; added weight = 250 or 500 lbs.
The panels will add 100 lbs.
As I understand it, the van is already over weight.
A 1000W Honda generator ($800) weights only 29 lbs. It's time to check if the OP can start the gen.
