Advised not to repack bearings???

I have to admit that I don't understand why trailer bearings supposedly need to be removed, cleaned, and inspected frequently while my car/truck wheel bearings haven't been touched in hundreds of thousands of miles and still work
Good point. I have a "classic" car with the older style wheel bearings (similar to Trailer bearings) and they've been trouble free in over 20 years. Yet, I clean/repack my trailer bearings (<4,000 miles) every 2 years !!!!
I suppose it makes me feel better, knowing that I serviced the bearings.....
