When my trailer was new I was having braking problems. Removed the drums and found three had grease on the brake shoes. Also found three damaged grease seals from the factory.
I have the Dexter EZ-lube but do not trust the seals to hold back the grease. I always hand pack replace seals clean and carefully inspect the bearings. Also check brake shoes and brake hardware.
A bearing failure while on vacation does not sound like a good thing for the family.
Even with a new trailer have yourself or a trusted mechanic check the bearings, repack, check, adjust brakes and install new double lip seals.
