I can to the job myself, the only part I'm hesitant of is popping the rear seal out. I don't have a tool for that. I did see a guy on youtube made one of PVC parts.
Good call. You don't know what is going on inside the drum/hub until it's disassembled. I don't trust factory work either, been burned too many times.
Getting the seal out isn't problematic. Seating the new seal correctly can be. I'd suggest to buy a seal driver set or make a tool if the trailer bearing is the only one you'll ever service.
For those wondering why their auto bearings don't need service like a trailer bearing--The auto bearing is typically a sealed cartridge style, unlike a trailer bearing. They are manufactured to a tighter tolerance and durability, besides being totally sealed.
