A&E Dometic Awning problem

Question

I have what I believe is an 8300 model (didn't get a brochure when I bought the trailer and no ID tag anywhere). Lately the Safe-T-Lock lever is intermittently very difficult to operate, sometimes to the down position and sometimes to the up position. Is there any adjustment or lubrication requirement? Is this a sign of something about to go bad? Once the lever is tripped the awning rolls up or down nicely.

If the awning is open that can sometimes be caused by tension on the roller. If you turn the roller a little bit by hand to relieve the tension that might help.

Here is a link for owners manuals of all types in PDF format. Yours sounds like a A&E 8500 series. As Clay said when in the down position sometimes have to releive the tension to move lock to roll up. Hope you find this helpfull.

And, on our awning, the model and serial number are visible on the inside/underside of the roller once the awning is open.--Tim
