A&E Dometic Awning problem

I have what I believe is an 8300 model (didn't get a brochure when I bought the trailer and no ID tag anywhere). Lately the Safe-T-Lock lever is intermittently very difficult to operate, sometimes to the down position and sometimes to the up position. Is there any adjustment or lubrication requirement? Is this a sign of something about to go bad? Once the lever is tripped the awning rolls up or down nicely.
  • If the awning is open that can sometimes be caused by tension on the roller. If you turn the roller a little bit by hand to relieve the tension that might help.
  • Here is a link for owners manuals of all types in PDF format. Yours sounds like a A&E 8500 series. As Clay said when in the down position sometimes have to releive the tension to move lock to roll up. Hope you find this helpfull.

  • And, on our awning, the model and serial number are visible on the inside/underside of the roller once the awning is open.
