Ten years ago when I wired my daughters house I prepared for afci. Bedroom wiring, no multi curcuit wiring, etc. Then Wisconsin said they would not require them and in talking to the chief inspector himself he said he would not accept them. Too much trouble. I am sure since then they have gotten better. More tech we probably don't need. They were worried about all the extension cords and overloaded outlets. Well, in a new home you should have plenty of outlets and no more can you put a penny behind a fuse. You remember fuses do you? and in the slums or rentals do you think the owners are going to retrofit. don't think so
