I read Mex's latest post as:
Pump that baby with 75 amps until 14.7v is reached. The 27 amp figure was spec'd for the absolute minimum of possible warranty returns.
As the chief CEO's mistress is petulantly demanding more shiny objects, and he needs maximum executive bonus to quiet her demanding misandristic, foot stomping shreik storm.
The lawyers and bean counters all got together with some marketers on the side and said a 27 amp figure would maximize chances that .006 less batteries would be returned under warranty if such a spec were published, and the CEO agreed and decided then and there to award himself a bonus.
Herb Tarlick and paisley ties fit in there somewhere too
