I replaced my four flooded GC batteries last winter before our snowbird trip not because there were bad but because they were seven years old and I wanted the peace of mind that new batteries will give you.
I guess this is my thinking also. I replaced my truck batteries at 7 years also with no signs of problems. I just hate spending the money if I can wait a few more years. I have not tried to get prices from a dealer, but the list price on my 150 AH batteries is about $600. That just seems ridiculous.
I was hoping to get some better idea of longevity but I guess that just depends on use. In the past I also found that temperatures were a big factor. Regular batteries do not like heat. In the past my batteries have died suddenly. I would guess AGM batteries would do the same but maybe testing would help. All I can think of for testing is to run the compressor refrigerator. Even then I don't know the amperage with any degree of accuracy. I think it pulls about 3 amps. So I should be able to operate my refrigerator continuously for 2 days before half depleting my 2 AGM batteries. I think I need to wait for the weather to warm up. It has been cool enough that the refrigerator is likely to shut off even if I leave the door open.
