I don't think that the OP mentions whether or not they carry a generator along?
Of course with a generator along, you can stay pretty much out of any serious trouble caused by batteries that are failing. We even carry two generators along, with one of them being a portable requiring only fuel and pulling a cord to start ... so even completely dead coach batteries or a completely dead engine starting battery ... or all dead at the same time - won't get us into trouble.
By the way, not all CPAP machine situations require "strong" batteries. Both my and the DW's CPAP machines use no heating, so their coach battery drain is very low. We don't need fully charged batteries at all for both of us to easily make it through the night with two CPAP units running.
We consider our coach batteries being in top shape as "nice", but not "necessary". It's all about having options.
