Yes, for a healthy battery taken out of service for charging.
A battery in service with a 2-5A draw may never exit absorption Volts and incur damage due to excessive Volts. There is no problem with a 2-5A draw at float Volts so long as the charger can do that and keep the battery at stasis.
Is this a manual or timed process to switch to float?
The generic definition for the transition to float Volts is at 90% SOC. What charger actually knows SOC%?
