John; I have Deka manual from 2 years ago. There were optimum and maximum ABS voltage, like I wrote. Didn't bother to update it, since didn't buy Deka.
The numbers for ABS at 77F from your Deka manual: min 13.80, max 14.58. This is 0.8V allowed range. In essence, they say "ah, pick whatever voltage you want, 13.8 to 14.58, doesn't matter" :)
I am a simple man and need exact instructions, ex. "ABS setpoint 14.01 at 77F". Not "from 13.80 to 14.58".
I am more easily satisfied to have any decent temp comp over none at all. I choose the charger setting that best describes the situation and let temp comp do whatever!
My MS SS-10 controller has two charge settings, 14.1 and 14.4V. Optima accepts 14.7V. I am using the 14.1V setting until the weather cools down. Why?, because the Optimas are in the van and I have recorded battery temps of 110F with the IR gun.
What is the EXACT temp of your batteries during charge? :)
