- BFL13Explorer IIThe low voltage alarm is triggered by the voltage the inverter "sees" at its end of the wiring to the batteries. Also the wire gauge and length must be appropriate for that alarm voltage to be "right."
- KemahsabeExplorerI bought a 180w AIMS to power a computer, printer, and other electronics in my truck. The unit is supposed to signal a low battery at 10.8 volts. Actually, any momentary dip below 12 volts will start the d@mn thing beeping, and it won't shut the h3ll up until you turn it off and on!! Drives me crazy!!
I contacted AIMS and they said, "That's not possible and besides, you're out of warranty. So, bye-bye!". So much for customer service. - ICamelExplorerI have had that exact model and it has worked fine for 7 years. I have had to change the fuse inside on two occasions, but other than that no problems.
- mena661ExplorerYou have to read the reviews and see what problems they had. I've read bad reviews where it was obvious that the reviewers simply didn't understand the product.
- 3_tonsExplorer IIIMy previous inverter was an Aims 1500w PSW (with wireless remote) and I had it configured (via automatic transfer switch) to operate all the household plugs. Always worked flawlessly, but ultimately I outgrew the 1500w output (due to motor surge reqmts). For electronics, a good value I doubt you'll have a regret.
Though sometimes valid, personally I take most reviews ('reviewers') (cars, trucks, etc) with only a mild grain of salt because my own experience has often been quite different...Just Me. - BFL13Explorer IINo idea of Brand quality, but on weight, I thought that went out with the arrival of switch-mode so now you can have light-weight inverters
- mena661ExplorerMEX says it's about weight with inverters and at 2.8 lbs, I'd be leery.
- pianotunaNomad IIIMany bad reviews elsewhere too.
- 2oldmanExplorer IIGo to Amazon. Horrible reviews. I would never buy a product like this based on a low price.
- jaugustonExplorerI put a 2000w one in a previous coach and it worked fine.
