But the misdemeanor importation for-profit avoidance is an automatic prosecution is a state-federal joint charge which occurs because of avoidance of California State Board of Equalization state tax fraud. Sales Tax must be paid to the state and no permit would be granted without a valid California address.

That's why the Chinese set up shop in a rental warehouse and buyers get no sales receipt nor physical return address. This is major fraud and California is hot to trot to prosecute ANYONE. What a bummer.

Go outside and stare at the transformer hanging on your power pole. Made in Mexico.

Siemens has gigantic electric motor plants here. There isn't "measure to the nanogram" power terminal soldering, or hair-thin wires carrying ten amperes like Guangdong garbage.

I'm more than fussy. When I need a power switch, it'll be a MIL-SPEC device. I don't know the source of COMMERCIAL switches in Mexican power devices but they don't fail.

Jesus has a seventeen-year-old power correction device that is loaded ten hours a day. Fourteen amperes air conditioner driven by a 2,000 watt rated power conditioner. Made in Monterrey, Mexico. The thing uses a spec grade single outlet. And the power cord doesn't look like laundry line. It is round three conductor and is neoprene not Mattel plastic.

Yep, there is a ton of snot made down here but transformers and brute power circuit boards are not among that list.

Yep David ... what you're saying about the how and the way of stuff made in Mexico is called "overkill".

Wanting to go the overkill route is exactly why we bought an RV built on an E450 chassis under the coach that really only required an E350 chassis under the coach. IAW ... buy a heavy duty tool and then use it in a light duty way. :B

Hmmmmm.

Hughes autoformer latest iternation:

2% boost plus 1 10% boost starting at 116 volts, no buck, and end user replaceable surge. It can work down to about 97 volts and has a capacity of 3600 watts $599.00 USD So far as I am able to find out, the Hughes doesn't "add" the 2% to the 10% to make 12% total boost.

Sola Basic

3 layers of boost starting at 110 (10%), 100 (20%), and 90 (30%) with one layer of Buck at 135 volts (-10%). capacity 3920 watts (4000 va, power factor 0.98). As it comes from the factory, it can work down to 85 volts and up to 145 volts. No surge but that is easily remedied. Input boost voltage is easily adjustable by turning one easily accessible pot. Cost $177.00 USD I have mine set to cut in at 113 volts.

The Sola Basic comes intended to be hard wired. I did add a 30 amp female RV outlet, a line out 20 amp ordinary female plug outlet, a line in 20 amp female outlet (so I could easily measure input voltage and output voltage) and a 30 amp male RV 30 amp plug. Additional cost is about $35 USD. I have used mine at 96 volts input.

So which one do folks think is more flexible as far as the autoformer part, and which one is a better buy?
