My Winnebago just has a combiner solenoid attached to ignition with a boost switch as well. if ignition is on or boost switch pressed chassis and house are combined with #1 wire somewhat ridiculously routed to the other side of motorhome and back even though batteries are next to each other.
The 175 amp alternator seems to have no trouble providing 80-90 amps for extended periods through this arrangement.
I would prefer more control though, I may replace the momentary boost switch with toggle and disconnect ignition auto connect, for manual control. otherwise as is my Magnum inverter will pull 80 amps to load support the roof A/C with the generator, would rather disconnect alternator until I deem necessary.
May go more expensive and do a nice Blue Sea ACR with remote switch, can be on, off or auto and much higher quality and intelligence than current setup.
Best setup would probably including a Sterling DC-DC charger along with the Amp-L-Start for chargers going both ways and still have solenoid for emergency start.
