My BIRD will NOT drop voltage to the isolator solenoid when I'm equalizing the house batteries! I started an EQ this AM ant the BIRD was pumping 14 volts to the trombetta isolator solenoid.
Do I want 16.1 volts to the chassis batteries?
Mine doesn't either. Same thing when the solar goes above 13.3 for 2 1/2 minutes. Put a switch in the positive lead to the Trombetta.
I used a sure power for years as a dual battery charging system. Worked great. It selected the cranking battery in the TV first, once the alternator figured the battery was full charged the sure power then selected the TT batteries and maintained 14.8 as measured at the batteries by my Morningstar solar charge controller. This was also verified after arriving at the CG with a DVM following a 3 to 4 hour drive. TT batteries were always full charged even when the refrig was on DC. I had paralleled the 10 awg between TV and TT batteries with 8 AWG.
Still trying to get the new MH straightened out. Finally got the B.I.R.D wired correctly.
