I will admit I haven't made too much of a study on the efficiency of alternator charging on my class C. I have seen somewhere around 30A or so at a quick glance once or twice, when first starting with not fully charged house batteries. However, beyond that, about all I can say is that after a day on the road the house battery bank is nicely charged, so whatever it's doing is entirely adequate for my needs. I suppose if one tends to drive in smaller increments it might make more sense to see about improving the setup.
It is fun sometimes to poke at ideas to make something better, most especially when someone else is to do all the hard work, even if it's not really necessary.
I followed your excellent trip report with your Class C with great interest. Lots of good info there (nice photos too).
