Good Morning RVers,
Just a simple question, I'am looking for a radio that is FM/AM
inexpensive, that has a AM out put for an external antenna port,i
want to get AM stations but where we are, (a seasonal) I cannot get
AM stations any ideas and what kind of antenna, radio, how to hook
it up,
Thank you for time and help,

What kind of radio.. Well here we have two answers,, First the low cost version..
Take any portable,, Take a wire, 100-300 feet long
Get oh say 50 feet of NYLON (no wire) cord,
And a standard pop botle (Water bottles may work but the heavier PLASTIC pop bottle is better)
Drill a small hole in the cap of the bottle
Put the nylon cord (one end) through the hole and doble knott so it does not pull back
Fill bottle with water and cap.
Other end of nylon cord goes to one end of wire
Now,, David and Goilath that wire over as many tree lmibs (as far out) as you can go and still have some left
Wrap 2 times around your portable and hook the free end to a ground rod... or RV use I would suggest one of those 3- feet long phillips screwdrivers, for home use 10 feet of copper drivein into the ground.
And that is all there is to it, the loops around the portable will couple the long wire to the radio.. NOTE: you are in teh 300 meter band, proper wire length is 75 meters, but shorter will do.
More impressive answer:
Shop somewhere like GigaParts.com or DX Engineering or Cheapham.com
Look for general coverage receivers,, Alas the ones I found were 200 and 400 dollars and did not have an AM antenna input,, (They were hand helds)
I use my kenwood TS-2000 but that is a transmitter so a license is needed,, AM broadcast is Receive only on it.
