Try 10 amps at 12 volts through a heater. Ten amps, right?
A helpful hint
http://www.littelfuse.com/technical-resources_old/faqs/fuse-derating.aspxI copied and will paste below an "answer" from an electronics "tech" forum. Oh how my side aches...
"Exactly what Nigel said. Basicly in a short circuit condition the voltage will go low and the current will sky rocket. So you want somthing that will limit the amount of current being pulled through the system. And since the voltage in the circuit will be going lower, not higher, it doesnt matter if the fuse is rated for 32V or 250V. Just make sure you do as Nigel said and get a voltage rating ATLEAST as high as the operating voltage of the circuit so it wont blow under normal conditions"
