bulk = constant current... rising voltage, steady current.
abs = constant voltage... steady voltage, tapering current
In some cases, abs is a combination of both rising voltage and tapering current, but in either case, current tapers.
pwm controllers do not follow the IV curve, afaik. mppt does.
