True. But the frame ground is also serving as the "ground" for my components including solar panel, Tristar charge controller, and inverter. On these components, the DC negative and ground are separate connections although they both end up at the same place (frame ground).

Technically DC doesn't have a ground. There are negative and positive leads. What you are calling a frame ground is actually the negative leg in the DC circuit.
