Any reason not to drill holes to ventilate inverter?

My cheap-azz HF inverter overheats easily when it's out in the open air and nights are freezing. In new van build, I plan to have an actual electrical cabinet. The inverter is going to freak out...

Maybe it just runs hotter than you are comfortable and yet is still normal. Has it ever shut down for heat?

Gives warning about lower vents in the manual:

Especially avoid placing the Inverter on carpets
and rugs; they are not only flammable, but
they also obstruct vents underneath it.

Maybe even elevate it a bit for extra venting.
