I had them in two travel trailers in the seventies, and I installed one in my 1995 class C Tiago, but the dealer made me take it out as a condition of the trade in. He said it is against the law to sell a RV with a propane light installed. I still have in in the garage. I would not hesitate to install it in my 2004 southwind but have not found a suitible wall space to mount it and run the propane line to it. I have solar so I get along with 12 V lights just fine.
Yes the mantles are fragile after being used. As for O2 depletion, probably no more then cooking inside, just crack a window.
