We had one in our first trailer- used it a lot- when it was cool or cold. Never when it was hot. The use under 2k btu/hr of LP (4 of them would equal one stove top burner). In 2 years, 50k miles only had to replace the mantle a couple of times.
I used to use a Coleman gas lantern inside an old bread truck that I converted into a camper in the early 70's. The lantern would light and also heat the camper. it would stay on the dog house until it rained one night and the wind shield cracked from the heat. Fast forward to today I still use the lantern for camping outside but have to replace the mantles often. Maybe Florida has smoother roads than Ct.
