Are LP indoor lamps still used?

I've stayed in forestry cabins that have them. They are a twofer they put out a lot of heat! As far as the EPA they wouldn't pollute any more then a propane stove . a lot less then an oil lamp that's the standby for power outages.

That's a Humphrey. I used to use them as power failure lights in the house and still have a 'like new' one out in the garage somewhere. They make 2 different mantles - the tie on ones are for RV use.

My family had those in little TT's for 20 years. They were usually a wall mount over the dinette. We always had a vent or window open.

It's not like there was much choice back then. Now we have LED's. Better light, less heat.

I know of several folks that use them in remote cabins. Light and heat.

I used to use a Coleman gas lantern inside an old bread truck that I converted into a camper in the early 70's. The lantern would light and also heat the camper. it would stay on the dog house until it rained one night and the wind shield cracked from the heat. Fast forward to today I still use the lantern for camping outside but have to replace the mantles often. Maybe Florida has smoother roads than Ct.

Avion quit using them around 1967. I can't imagine using one today with modern LED lights.

I used one in my off grid house for years with no problems. A bonus feature is they are great bug killers. Any bug attracted to light will fly up near the mantle and incinerate itself. I always kept a tray underneath the light.

We had one in our pickup camper years ago and it didn't kill us. They should still work the same as they used to.
