If I kill that generator because it cannot handle incremental voltage increases of .01 volts, I'll slip on a dress chase a rabbit down a hole and go have tea and crumpets with Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.
My idea hasta/kinda work cuz no depleted battery will accept charge current at all if the voltage applied to it's terminals is equal to it's intrinsic rest voltage at it's open circuit terminals at it's present state of charge.
What the above means is this: If Mex maintains his charger's output voltage low enough as seen on the battery's terminals, then the battery will accept only as much current as Mex wants it to. All Mex has to do is turn, and keep turning (probably every few minutes), the charger's output knob/screw just enough to keep the charging voltage above the battery's constantly increasing intrinsic terminal voltage - as it charges up - to keep the current flowing into the battery at just below a value that will trip the genny's circuit breaker.
All the above is, IMHO, what I THINK will happen .... based on God Rest His Soul Spock logic.
