Atwood 3 burner stove

The screw holding the front burner on my Atwood stove to its bracket comes loose fairly often. It's no problem to put it back together again, but I'd rather keep the screw from backing out again. There is a lock washer, which I have replaced once, but it does not seem to be effective. Would lock tite work, or would the temperature be too high?

  • Anything designed for wood or plastic will probably end up melting. Get a metal putty and fill the hole, then insert the screw. Something like JB Weld should work well. I just bought some JB Weld this morning for fixing a spot on some sheet metal (my house air conditioner). And I was rather surprised that the epoxy comes in different flavors now, some for metal, some for plastics and such. So read the label carefully. You want the original.

When I have a problem of a screw backing out of a wall I will squirt some sealant into the screw hole and then screw back up again. Once the sealant bonds the screw should not back off easy...

Maybe your burner mount will allow something like that...
