Nonsense. The OP's Atwood GC10A-3E is a 10 gallon DSI propane powered water heater with the 120 vac electric heating element option. There is nothing "automatic" about it - there will be a GAS switch to run it on gas only, an ELECTRIC switch to heat water with the electric heating element, or one can run it in both modes at the same time for quicker recovery. However, one must
manually turn either of these on / off as preferred. An Atwood also doesn't have any switch mounted on the outside of the unit itself as does a Suburban water heater, both switches will be mounted inside the trailer.
