Atwood water heater leaking

I have an Atwood water heater 93756 that is leaking from the cold water input connection. After working on it for 3 days I finally realized that the fitting is not leaking but the tank is leaking where the threaded insert is pressed into the tank right around the weld. It is a very small leak, about one drip every minute or two. Anyone ever had this problem?

  • Forgot about that stuff, I'm going to give it a try tonight.
  • I would try to fix it first. JB Weld makes several different products that would probably work. Their epoxy is suitable for high temperatures and are easy to use. For approximately $6 you can permanently stop the leak. Give it a try!

  • Not sure what happened, I drained it when I winterized but it looks like it has been leaking since I opened the camper this spring. This heater is 10 years old and not sure if it is worth replacing just the tank, I found a new water heater at Tweetys for under $250 delivered. Any idea where I can get just the tank?
  • That usually indicates the tank froze. That is NOT the model number. It is the manual document number. You can replace the inner tank as it is a replaceable part. Doug
