Atwood water heater

My Atwood water heater won't light unless I hit the solenoid with a wrench or something while it is trying to light. I just put a new solenoid on it and it is doing the same thing. It will burn until it gets hot but won't relight unless I hit it again.I do hear the solenoid clicking and there is no air in the line. HELP!!

  • Check the voltage at the solenoid when it is "trying". It is possible tht low voltage is providing marginal pull that gets a little help when you assist it with the hammer.
  • It sounds like you might have bit of dirt in the nozzle on solenoid.
