I know that the Sola Basic unit which costs 50% of what the Hughes unit does has two layers of 10 volt boost (110 and 100) and one layer of buck -10 volts (135).
It has no surge capabilities.
I believe Canadian Rainbirds had a unit that kept voltage rock solid--but I can't find the thread on it.
