You need to open the awning completely and then make sure the fabric is square to the camper (which it should be). But the the awning attached to the roller need to be moved to make it square to the fabric. The fabric slides in the awning tube. A gentle tug with one hand and a gentle push with the other will be sufficient to nudge it a little. Keep repeating till you get the fabric square to the arms and the to roller again.
My previous camper was notorious for loosing it's square on the awning. I watched for the uneven movement of the arms and that was an indicator it was (tug and push time) again. My awning was manual, but it's the same principle with electric or manual. If they are out of align, the arms won't retract right or tight against the camper.
