Awning destroyed in storm

3rd time out and a big storm came along and took care of my awning. We were trying to make it back from the lake and didn't make it in time. The good news is insurance will replace with 50$ deductible. My question for the folks is anyone have to replace theirs after a storm? Did your adjuster want you to replace with same brand? I meet the adjuster next week. Not sure where they are gonna send me and what they are going to want me to get.

I don't hang "stuff" from the awning anymore. What I want is a quick rollup, and we roll it up just about every time we leave the coach. Not if we're still in the state park, but if we go out the gate for dinner, usually put it away.
We've put several fellow campers' awnings away over the years.
It's a Sun Shade ONLY. Don't try to use it for protection from the weather!
  • We had our awning blown off in high winds in North Dakota several years ago.

    No warning whatsoever, just boom.

We threw it away and haven't missed it.

Just had my slide topper replaced because of high winds. It doesn't look like the same model that was on there but I didn't check. They mounted it different though.
  • And then there are the stories of the awning that is holding about 200 gallons of rainwater:B

Sorry for your tragedy...I'm sure it's gonna ruin your weekend, but at least nobody was hurt, and it will be replaced.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend:)
  • We had a slightly better experience than you. When returned to rv park at night after visiting cousin, found our awning doing it job. Only issues was, it was shading the top of the 5vr.

Luckily, a permanent park camper had gotten camp mgr and secured our awning best they could until we returned.

Only damage was a slightly bend section of metal that I was able to pound back into position and re-attached awning.

When we left for the day, no wind in sight and none forecast. A learning experience.
  • Lol it made some great memories also. Wife got suburban stuck going around a downed tree. Thought we were gonna die out on the pontoon. Dog locked us outta car. Yep Chevy chase kinda vacation :).
