I tried that darn awning repair tape to patch 2 tiny holes caused by a ladder being set against it. Well, it lasted less than a year. Mold grew under it. It might be well used to remove hair from your arce, but it doesn't hold up on awnings. You can remove the small section of the awning that is compromised or I know a guy that used Eternabond tape and that has held up very well.
