Unless you have a lockout device or transfer switch the home system is illegal due to the safety hazard regardless of the fact you turn off the main. Contact your city, the utility or a licensed electrician and they will all repeat the same warnings. The double male cord is also an illegal safety hazard. You will not get any sympathy on this issue here on RV.net
Same goes for the RV.
The good news is that properly wiring an RV is fairly simple and low cost. Easiest might be to just plug the main cord into the inverter and turn off the converter.
