I know that I can, and do, use my home generator by plugging the two outlets from the genny into house outlets that are powered by different busbars in the breaker box, (after shutting off the master)...

No one is safe if your using a suicide cord. Anyone, including yourself, can mistake that bare male ended cord as being perfectly safe when in fact it would be death to many, including children and pets.
