Contact your utility, city, or licensed electrician for more details. In a perfect work where nothing bad happens it may well work. But your system is prone to human error and injury. May seem unlikely but if 10,000 people are doing it and just one screws up.... someone can die. Do you think you want to repair power lines with all the random public doing this? Remember your 120v generator can put 10,000+ volts into the grid as power goes back through the transformer.camperpaul wrote:
What you are doing at home is so dangerous the cord you use is commonly called a "SUICIDE CORD".
Back-feeding the wiring in your house can result in injury to or death of the linemen who are working to restore your power.
DON'T DO IT!!!
I have been told the same thing but no one has explained why. Does not tripping the master breaker keep the current from traveling back down the line and if not how does the current manage to get by the master breaker when it is off?. Thanks.
