Backup camera problem

Posted this earlier on the Class C forum but did not have much luck so I will try it here. I have a 2004 Jayco Class C with a visor-mounted rear camera that stays on whenever the ignition switch is on. It worked fine a couple of weeks ago but today will not come on at all. I checked all the coach fuses and even the fuses inside under the instrument panel. I assume it has a fuse somewhere but none of them are specifically marked as such. Does anyone have any suggestions for troubleshooting this thing? I have not yet taken anything apart but will try that if necessary. Any input appreciated.

  • Thanks for the replies. Looks like a project for later on. Leaving on a short trip in it today. I was hoping to get it working before we left but that's not gonna happen. Hopefully I can figure it out without buying a new one.

The monitor is attached to the visor with screws. The cable is attached to the monitor INSIDE the visor. I will have to take it apart when I get time to check the connections. The cable runs from the visor (Monitor) to behind the door pillar. Don't know how it is routed from there.
  • I think I would unplug and check for power. If it has power, you don't need to look for a fuse no more.

  • We had one on our MH that went out. They said there were 3 components..... 1) the camera, 2) the monitor and 3) the cable. In our case, a mouse had gotten in and chewed up the cable. :) Hope this helps.
