backup camera

I have a long narrow driveway. I was thinking about adding a backup camera on the back of our 30’ fithwheel to aid in entering the driveway approach at the right time. We have a Garmin RV 760 LMT GPS that is able to hook a camera too. Has anyone any experience with this hookup?

  • I have a Garmin.. 5 inch 2597 and added the BC-30 backup camera last month... works well., I needed the extension cable.($30.00) for FASTER refresh.

I have a tight backup with a 45 degree blind turn. backing into back yard. and between the house and garage.

I have a 2012 Ford F 250 supercab long bed and a 33 foot travel trailer. camera is mounted to rear window of trailer and wired to tail lights. transmitter is mounted under the propane cover on "A" frame of trailer.
  • I have a Garmin 760 LMT with the wireless backup camera. Used it on 26 ft pull trailer and longbox truck with canopy. 57 ft overall. Attached camera to ladder, power from lic plate light, and transmitter on top of trailer roof at rear. Unit sent signal good. Sometimes in heavy rain with lots of road spray it would act up a bit. Never really found it very useful due to wide angle fisheye lens. Can see 30 ft or so behind trailer not bad but beyond that everything is too small to judge position. Unit does have parallel lines showing behind trailer on each side that are adjustable to line up with your trailer, and green, yellow, red stop distance lines that can be adjusted for distance you want. It will work good for the purpose you want it for, but you will have to get used to the distortion to figure out where you want rear of trailer to stop in relation to driveway .

Its what I added to our 5er. I use it to supplement my mirrors & not as a replacement.
I am not disappointed I did it.
  • I just installed a wireless backup camera that I found at Menards for the same reason.

Not familiar with that particular brand or setup, but mounted high, I can see the tree branches I have to avoid in our long driveway.
