BAD?? using generator and honda eu2000 at the same time.

2007 attitude toyhauler 33'

i have a honda 2000 that i keep plugged into the shore power input on the trailer and i use it most of the time. but every now and then i need to use the microwave or toaster so i usually fire up the onboard generator but then i have to go outside and turn off the honda cause i am not sure what would happen to the electrical system if they were both running.

however, if i am plugged into shore power and then i turn on the onboard generator, i don't think anything happens.

so question is, can i keep the honda running while also running the onboard generator? thanks in advance.

Yes. Transfer switch isolates the power sources. Although Honda should run the microwave if not much else is running.

i wonder how to tell if i have a transfer switch.

the honda just barely runs the micro, you can tell the micro doesn't like it much, and it take like 2 or 3 times longer to heat up food using the honda 2000
  • Is your rig equipped with a transfer switch?
If it is only one power source will operate. Which source will depend on transfer switch setup.
  • Yes. Transfer switch isolates the power sources. Although Honda should run the microwave if not much else is running.
