Before anyone gets all bent out of shape, there is currently a shank in the receiver on my pickup. I don't "always" have one there, but will leave it in for a short time if I am going to need it again soon, like in a day or two. My thinking is that there is a lot of money spent designing bumpers that protect "both" vehicles and we should take advantage of that fact. I remember a guy in high school that tore up the front end of a few vehicles with the old "swoop and squat" maneuver. Think what he could do with an eight inch probe sticking out back there! It wasn't me.
