Bathroom fan converting switch to pull on/off

Bathroom fan switch is to tall for wife to turn on/off. Want to change to the pull on/off style. I'll tie a pull string to switch and wife can turn on/off with a tug of a string.

Can't seem to find right switch for this. Not sure I'm using right term in searching.

What would you call these type switches so I can order one?

Thanks

  • I had the same problem but I put a rocker switch in the wall to turn every thing on and off

Yep, most any switch good for any voltage.

Not quite. Any switch can be used as long as its rated voltage is higher or equal to the voltage in the circuit where the switch is installed.

You can use 120V switches on a 12V circuit, but you cannot use 12V switches on a 120V circuit.
  • Thanks

"pull chain switch" works for better search.
  • 120 volt switch should work ok. I converted the light switch above the table to a pull chain, no problems. Got the switch at Home Depot

I should of said in posting that this is for 12 volt fan. Does it make any difference if switch is made for 120 volt but used in 12 volt application?
