Clean wires and terminals with solvent to make grease-free ready to paint. SAND the top of the battery post and lugs to make the plasti-dip stick better, Then sand the insulation if krylon paint is needed to correct blue, green or white wire to red or black.

Leave series connections in 3-cell battery configurations, unpainted but of course coated against corrosion. The painted terminals and plastic wire insulation will show through corrosion coatings OK
Don't spare the Plasti-Kote, paint the entire outside of the terminals. Red or Black. Then spray the wire plastic insulation with Krylon if necessary.
This treatment is going to last for years and yes, your's truly uses this seeming overkill. One careless moment is not worth the damage it causes. From the school of the very hardest knocks.
