Batteries or Converter-Charger

I have two 6V batteries and a WFCO 9855 55 Amp Converter-Charger. The Converter-Charger was bought on 2/3/2011. My converter-charger is kicking in and out causing the lights to dim and the heater to kick off. The batteries load tested good with an Actron Battery 100 amp load tester bought from NAPA. Do ya'll think this could be a bad converter-charger already? Tomorrow when its daylight again I am going to check all connections and look for any breakers in the DC line. Any and all thoughts are welcome.

Thanks

  • Don't feel bad Mark, I did the same thing about a dozen years ago. I replaced a failed converter with a lousy "upgrade" of the same brand. Then I found out I could have gotten a really good converter for another $25. Oh well, you live and learn!
  • ScottG, That's what I was afraid of. smkettner, funny that's what I was looking at after posting. Guess I will order one. After I replaced my WFCO three years ago I read about them not being the desired one to get. Will replace with the one you linked to.

    Thanks

  • That bright-dim cycling is the classic symptom of a dying converter, especially if the battery is known to be good.
