This is WHY I protest when folks insist a crimper need not vary from some ideal standard in die size.
This is a good example. Dell City specifically says for that 1/0 lug that it will work with the manual Quick Crimp Hex tool I mentioned earlier in this thread.
Given what (little) I know, I would first try a 50mm^2 die with that lug since the Quick Crimp instructions say to use the Black/50 die for a 1/0 cast copper lug.
I also assume that a properly sized cable is required, and that it would be snug fit into the lug.....
It's also starting to look like the die sizes may be somewhat standardized. 25,30,50,70,95,120, etc - but I'm still not positive. I also don't see anyone publishing the distance across the flats of the die - which would help.
There are still other parameters that seem important, for example the width of the die. I've seen some tools that require 4 crimps for a 4/0 terminal and others that require only 2.
I bought all my lugs from Del City with half (#2 thur 4) of them looking like what Mex just posted above. As I've mentioned before the Quick Crimp tool just didn't cut it.
I'm still in the solder camp as long as it's done properly but Jeff's crimp looks pretty darn good!
