JUNK that diode type isolator unless you like spending money replacing batteries.
SECONDLY! And this is damned important.
Junk the original voltage regulator and replace it with a TRANSPO Part Number 8313 voltage regulator. A replacement reg. SHINE UP the chassis ground contact and back that regulator down to 14.2 volts. On the backside of the regulator is green potting material. There is a blue & white adjustment potentiometer unscrew to lower voltage. This can be done with the engine running and regulator grasped in your hand. But you ABSOLUTELY MUST have an excellent jumper wire connection between the regulator shiny case and battery negative.
I did this for a living for 40+ years so my comments are not guesswork. The 8313 regulator can be found online in eBay or Amazon. The SOLE model is TRANSPO 8313.
Diode based (rectifier actually) isolators are good for two things. Strip out the black potting material in the center strip and use the "isolator case" for something unstupid like mounting power electronics OR hurling the thing out the back window at a howling dog.
You have a MAJOR problem and it won't take long to destroy those AGM batteries.
MoPar had a ----poor design with their alternator voltage regulators. They were the 1st car maker on the market with a 35-amp roundback alternator in 1961.
If you're good, use a Bosch type Relay and power BOTH the IGN brush terminal and the TOP wire of the regulator with relay power, then do the 8313 Transpo upgrade (wire for wire identical).
Better yet, PM me and I'll take both junk isolators off your hands and 2-minutes worth of jackhammering the potting material off and flinging the diodes into the trash I'll have a pair of coveted heat sinks.
GM, Ford, and MoPar, the latter had by far the biggest money-maker charging system for me. The Ford IAR alternator wasn't a bad money maker and GM's CS-130 was a golden egg as well.
I will guarantee (and you won't read that word from me, often) what is lacking (bad bad bad design) in your system is going to fail those batteries catastrophically. 1982 I renovated FIVE Mopar motorhomes within a week's time on a Mexican camping beach.
PM me if you wish. I'll try and help you from Mexico.
