Battery Maintenance, multiple batteries

I have at least a half dozen batteries, some "deep cycle" and some standard, that I remove from their respective vehicles each autumn for storage. My question is, if I connected these batteries together in parallel, would I be able to use a single "battery maintainer" to keep them all in condition or do I purchase two or three of these maintainers and move them around from one battery to another?

  • Red,

Lead acid batteries do not play well when in parallel. Believe me.
You can parallel any pair that came off the line the same day and have been in EXACTLY the same service, other wise, leave then to themselves.
Good batteries have a self-discharge rate of about 1% per month.
So, get enough battery minders some you can leave one on a battery for about 1 week out of 4 and then go on to the next.
This works, but it takes a calendar and the sense to read it.
I used to keep about a dozen batteries over the winter. From GC2s and 31s to 8D. I didn't like moving those.
