battery operated leaf blower

in another thread a poster remarked that he used a 120 volt leaf blower to clean off the roof of his slideouts and that battery ones were problematic. I have had good luck with my Ryobi 18 volt lithium system and have a leaf blower, spot light, and assorted other tools that are powered by it. the lithium batteries seem to hold a charge and just switching two of them between tool and charger works well. also could power a small drill, or driver.

  • The problem that a lot of folks have with the Rechargeable/ Cordless Tools is that they just don't use them enough to keep the Battery Pack in good condition.
Those Ryobi Tool designers figured that out and came up with a workable solution to the problem!
They have a whole range of Cordless Tools that share the same Battey Pack so the average Homeowner gets better utilization and actually conditions the Batteries better through use rather than letting them sit on a shelf .
There are other makers who are offering similar Tool sets!
None of them will totally replace their corded Cousins ,but it is quite amazing seeing them doing jobs that I would have thought impossible a few Years back!
  • Been using B&D 18V products for years including the blower. While it is no match for the high power blowers it works for my applications. Started rebuilding the battery packs with 2.4AH Sanyo fast charge cells since the B&D batteries would only last a couple of years.

  • If you think a battery powered leaf blower does poorly, buy a 2 cycle gasoline leaf blower, and leave the bottle of 2 cycle oil in the blower tube to block the air's exit hole.

Did that, got the T-shirt. Discovered the problem when taking it back apart to return to the store.
  • Gotta Kobalt 40v blower. Works great. Took off the pinched down piece on the end of the tube. Works twice as great.
  • The best I've seen is the DeWalt 40 volt blower. That thing has some real blowing power.

  • Oh I should have mentioned that I bought it refurbished at a power tool store, don't remember name, for very little $$$

  • I bought this, and while it won't strip the finish off concrete like my 120v will, it's more than adequate for most jobs I do around the house including cleaning off the top of the slideout. Not having to mess with an extension cord is well worth some loss in power.
  • We got one of these, Ego Leaf Blower, and works fine around the house. Of course it wouldn't have made a dent in the leaves from the many Oak trees we had back in Wisconsin. We needed two gas powered and a chipper/shredder for those.
  • I have had good luck with anything Ryobi

All of my battery tools are 18V and use the lithium batteries....even the old style Ryobis that used the big 18V battery.

I like the lithium.....they hold charge and then done. No slow tapering off

    3 batteries.....2 chargers
Weed whacker, drill, circ saw, saws-all, jig saw, sander.

Heck I have less and less power cord stuff and more battery stuff
Tablesaw, bandsaw, table top sanders, belt sander & 1/2" drill motor

Course that battery leaf blower is just as nosy as power cord one at 7am in CG
