Battery recommendations

We have an Interstate Battery with a dead cell and needs to be replaced for our travel trailer.

SRM-24 55O CCA 690 MCA

Can't find the Interstate batteries in our area.

Battery One has "Crown" batteries in 750 for $99.95

Are these good batteries or should I search for another brand?

Thank you!
  • Thanks for the help.

I have a WFCO ULTRA III Distribution Center Model WF-8955PEC

We do not boondock and use full-hookups. By going up in size you mean Group 27? I know nothing about batteries.

Only other choice besides Crown is Wal-Mart or Sear's Die Hard, nothing here in Cumberland.

  • Hi,

I'd bump up on the size as much as you can. Look for a trolling or even better a deep cycle battery.

What sort of converter is being used to maintain the battery bank?
  • Crown makes or at least made (in my era) very good batteries. Better than the Johnson Controls batteries that Interstate relabels and hypes. Interstate Battery manufactures NOTHING. They buy products and stick their own labels on them.
  • Lots,

CCA and MCA mean nothing to you in this application. The CA in XCA means Cranking Amperes. RC is reserve capacity, it is sort of like minutes you can leave the headlights on before you have to get jump started. So, look for that number.

At group 24, you don't have a lot of choices for anything real.
And, watch out, many battery warranties only apply to use in a passenger car.

    Good Luck

    Matt
