Battery shows 3/4 on shore power. Full on charger?

I noticed that my battery when on shore power is showing 1/2-3/4 power. So I took it out, checked water and added a little, plugged it into my charger and in 4 minutes it showed that it was fully charged.

Could this be correct? It was a new battery last year. I forgot it in my garage for about 4-5 weeks in the early part of winter, then it was stored inside.
  • any auto store will check them, volt meter is under $10. and you,ll learn alot.
  • As far as load testing, I assume Batteries Plus or an Auto Parts store to check it?

Get one anyway. They're cheap and you can learn to check battery voltage in no time. Don't believe your monitor panel that says your battery is 1/2 or 3/4 or fully charged. They are unreliable at best. With a $10 voltmeter you will know exactly what the state of charge is on your battery.

    Good Luck,
    Eric

I will look for one today. Thank you.

How old are the batteries?? Most likely they are bad.

  • If your looking at the lights on the main panel in your MH, then that is your problem. As for checking the battery the only sure was is a load test. Take them out, fully charge them on your battery charger then take then to a battery store and have them load tested. Finally get yourself a volt meter and learn how to use it. It is invaluable for diagnosing electrical problems. Cheap ones worn as good as expensive ones for home use.

  • What was the voltage on the battery before you hooked up the charger?
